National Coaches Day!Today, we celebrate those who dedicate themselves to developing the next generation, not just as athletes, but as people. The coaches who sacrifice time from their own lives to make a difference in the lives of others. The ones who, even in the toughest moments of competition, continue to lead, encourage, and push their teams toward the next opportunity. The ones who understand that some of the most valuable lessons they teach extend far beyond the volleyball court.Iowa Select wouldn’t be Iowa Select without these incredible leaders, and we’re grateful to have so many who pour their time, energy, and passion into the athletes they serve. To all of our coaches, thank you for everything you do, both on and off the court. Your impact goes far beyond the game!Happy National Coaches Day! ...

Congratulations to Abren Bazal (PIN/DS | Wilton High School | Class of 2027) on her commitment to continue her academic and volleyball career at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville! Abren has been part of the Iowa Select family for four seasons, and we’ve loved watching her grow every step of the way. She started with us on 15 Mizuno in 2023-24 under Jason Caffery and Anna Corlett, then stayed with Jason on 16 Mizuno in 2024-25 alongside Haddi Thompson. Last season she played on 17 Mizuno with Frank Flanagan, Jim Finn, and Nick Lynch. Now she’s finishing her club career on 18 Mizuno with Greg Cotton and Maria Sakellaris.Abren is the kind of teammate every team wants on it. She shows up ready to work, competes on every ball, and makes the people around her better. She’s as versatile as they come on the volleyball court: she can play the DS/L role and attack at the net as a PIN. On some teams she was also the team’s 2nd setter. Abren has always helped her teams in various ways, utilizing the multitude of skills she’s developed over the years. She brings energy and poise to the gym every day and leads by example, on and off the court. She’s ready to be a collegiate volleyball player and help her next team in the same ways she has contributed to her club teams over the years. Abren, we are so proud of you! Platteville is getting a great player and an even better person. We can’t wait to watch you compete in an Iowa Select jersey for your final club season. Go Pioneers! ...

Congratulations to Reece Harrell, Class of 2027 M/PIN from Bettendorf High School, on her commitment to NCAA Division III Simpson College!Reece joined Iowa Select her freshman year as a 15u athlete, starting on 15 White with Coach Kennedy Hugunin. From there she moved up to 16 Black with Coach Brian Schubert, then earned a spot on 17 Mizuno last season with Coach Frank Flanagan, Jim Finn, and Nick Lynch. This season she’ll wrap up her club career with 18 Black under Head Coach Spencer Thomas. Few stories in Iowa Select’s history are as special as Reece’s. She may be the fastest-improving player we’ve ever had. She started on 15 White as a freshman and quickly became one of the most skilled middles in her class — every step earned through hard work, a willingness to be coached, and a commitment to getting better every time she walked in the gym. She’s the kind of teammate who makes everyone around her better, and it’s been a joy to watch her grow and inspire others to do the same. We’re so proud she’s found her college home, and we can’t wait to watch her compete in the Factory one more season before she heads to Indianola. Congrats, Reece—future Storm! ...

Congratulations to Abby Dykstra, Class of 2027 PIN/DS from Bettendorf High School, on her commitment to Black Hawk College!Abby joined Iowa Select her freshman year as a 15u athlete and has made the most of every season since. She started on 15 Black with Coach Emily Jossart, moved up to 16 Black with Coach Brian Schubert, and earned her way onto 17 Mizuno last season with Coach Frank Flanagan, Jim Finn, and Nick Lynch. This season she’ll take the court for her senior year with 18 Black under Head Coach Spencer Thomas. Over those four years, Abby has steadily grown into a player coaches trust. She is a product of great coaching, hard work in the gym, and a competitor who shows up for her teammates every single day. Abby is known in our gym for her grit and scrappy playing style both at the net and in the backrow. She’s a high level competitor who has successfully played many different positions throughout her career. We’re thrilled she’s found her next home, and the best part? She’s staying right here in the Quad Cities, just across the river in Moline. We get to watch her finish her club career in the Factory this season, then cheer her on as a Brave. Congrats, Abby—future Brave! ...
