Whether playing, covering it during her broadcast career or coaching, volleyball has been a constant in Amy’s life. In her first year with Iowa Select, as the 11 Mizuno Head Coach, she had the opportunity to help develop some talented young volleyball players. 11 Mizuno finished 2nd at Iowa Regionals and earned a bid to USAV Nationals. Amy will be the 12 Mizuno Head Coach for the 2022 season.

As a player, Amy attended Augustana College where she competed in volleyball and track & field. She set all-time Augustana records for kills and digs, earning All-Conference recognition three times and helping the Vikings to three conference titles and a school record for victories in a season at the helm of Coach Liesl Fowler. She ran track & field for the Vikings, earning All-American honors as a heptathlete and javelin thrower. Her Augustana school record for the javelin throw still stands. Later she was inducted into the Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame.

Amy graduated from Augie in 2001 with degrees in Speech Communications and Spanish. She received her Master’s in Journalism from Northern Illinois University and went on to pursue a career in Sports Broadcasting, earning an Emmy Award for her storytelling about student-athletes overcoming adversity.  Amy lives in Coal Valley with her husband Nate and very active kids, Cyan and Jack.
